While the NuWave Oven is the number one countertop oven in America, many people remain unaware of its advantages over similar, yet inferior, appliances. For example, the differences between the NuWave Oven and competitor halogen ovens are fairly extensive.
It should be noted that there are some similarities between the NuWave Oven and countertop ovens that use halogen technology. Both types leverage infrared waves along with a convection fan to cook food. The main difference comes from the primary heat source. Halogen ovens obviously use halogen lamps while the NuWave Oven utilizes a conduction heater. While both heating elements do the job of cooking food, halogen bulbs, just like any other light bulb, will eventually burn out. This creates unnecessary additional costs for replacement parts. The NuWave Oven’s power head is built to last.
Halogen models and the NuWave Oven also come equipped with a dome, under which the cooking process occurs. Halogen ovens are typically manufactured with a glass dome, however, which can become extremely hot. Even after a cooling period, it is very easy for individuals to burn themselves while handling glass, not to mention the additional risk of breakage. The NuWave Oven’s FDA-regulated plastic dome is shatter-resistant and its quick cooling properties make it much safer for use.
It is highly recommended that customers use the NuWave Oven’s dome holder for additional safety and convenience. However, if necessary, the NuWave Oven’s plastic dome can be placed flat on a table after cooking, whereas glass domes from halogen ovens cannot. If someone were to try to place a glass dome directly on a table or countertop after cooking, it would likely burn the surface.
The glass dome employed by halogen ovens is also significantly heavier. The NuWave Oven’s plastic dome is much lighter weight than glass competitors. Some halogen ovens can weigh up to 21 pounds while the NuWave Oven registers a convenient and portable 9 pounds (approximate).
For all of the reasons listed above, the NuWave Oven is safer, more user-friendly and more easily transported than halogen ovens – for fast, healthy and delicious cooking almost anywhere. No wonder we’ve sold 2.5 million units and counting!
